Commodity Distribution Monitoring
We are very much involved in commodities distribution supervision and monitoring activities in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Our major clients are WFP (Pakistan), UNICEF (Pakistan), UNHCR (Pakistan), Ministry of Agriculture Afghanistan and Pakistan. For monitoring the distribution of commodities, we follow the standard distribution monitoring tools, following are our procedure (guideline-UNHCR). Observe during commodities distributions applying the “scooping” system a few points.
• The physical organization of the distribution area.
• The distribution process.
• Beneficiary lists and name verification.
• The scooping activity.
• Equity of the distribution.
• Information on the distribution.
• Other issues:
o Did the distribution start on time?
o Were the trucks properly offloaded thus ensuring security for the food handled?
POST DISTRIBUTION MONITORING AND RAPID COMMODITIES SECURITY ASSESSMENT.
• Following a refugee home (preferably chosen at random) who has just received their ration.
• Returning to the same village/camp where the food distribution took pace some days earlier and interview a family selected at random.
• Meeting a group of refugees (e.g. women, leaders, farmers, and young people) after the distribution has already taken place.
